About

I’m another middle aged guy with a great family, old house (in need of repairs I cannot do), and a grill on which I pretend I’m the master (and fail) at least twice a week during the summer. The arts are a big part of my life, which does not explain my love for the accordion.  I’m a college administrator with long ago majors in English, Philosophy, and Religion. I have a Masters in Professional Writing, which is like an English degree with a lot of writing. I also teach a first-year English class focusing on writing at Hope College each semester.

I’m also writing a blog following my reading of 50 classics over the next five years — there is a link on the sidebar.

  1. Hi,

My name is Melanie, writing this query in behalf of Inger Wolf, a Danish crime writer who
has just released her first novel Evil Water as an e-book in English. I’m wondering if you
might be interested in reviewing the book. We can send you a free copy in whichever
format you like ( PDF, EPUB, MOBI).

Synopsis: Two women disappear without a trace, and the same autumn a farmer on the
outskirts of Århus finds them murdered in suitcases under a heap of stone. The skin of
one woman is filled with the letter Y and the other has a rare flower in her hair. Inspector
Daniel Trokic is leading the case which goes in several directions: to a tribal population
in Africa, religious insanity and a horrifying meeting with leeches. When a third woman
disappears, Trokic is under pressure to find out what the killer wants to say with his
    macabre scenery and rituals.

You can find more information about Inger Wolf on her website http://www.ingerwolf.com.

Thank you for your time. We hope to hear from you soon.

    Best regards,

  2. I have a question/suggestion for your site. Maybe you could have a list available so your readers could see the 50 classics you’re planning to read and/or what books you have reviewed. That way we don’t have to browse down infinitely to see what all your posts are about. Or maybe you have such a list posted somewhere and I just haven’t found it?
